Man names plane after wife

Jet2 unveiled a special Boeing 737 yesterday. The plane named ‘Helen Normington’, was revealed at Leeds Bradford Airport after local businessman Neil Normington – MD at IBOSS in Harrogate - bid £3,000 in a charity auction arranged by Spofforth Cricket Club to raise money for Yorkshire Air Ambulance.
After winning the auction, Neil named the aircraft after his wife of 16 years, who joined him at Leeds Bradford Airport for the unveiling of ‘Helen Normington’. She said: ‘I was so surprised when Neil told me where we were going this morning – to the airport to see a plane named after me! It is a great honour and it is certainly a gift I won’t forget in my lifetime!’
Neil said: ‘I knew Helen would not expect this – the look of surprise when I told her was fantastic. The money I paid is going to a great cause as guys at the Yorkshire Air Ambulance do a great job day in and day out. I’d like to thank Jet2 and Spofforth Cricket Club for giving me the opportunity to present my wife with such a unique gift.’
