Thomas Cook Holidays have announced that they are to base an aircraft at Leeds Bradford Airport next summer, increasing the number of seats on its summer sun routes. An Airbus A320 plane will be based at the airport to provide an extra ten thousand seats to 17 European holiday destinations including Spain, the Balearics, the Canaries, Greece, Malta, Portugal, Turkey and Cyprus.
James Burrows, aviation director at Thomas Cook said: 'We recognise the growth potential at Leeds Bradford. By having a plane based at the airport we can meet the increased demand of the people in the Yorkshire region.'
A spokesman for the airport said Thomas Cook's decision was a vote of confidence in Leeds Bradford, and that it looked forward to offering passengers increased availability when booking their holiday.
