Airport warned over late night flights
17.04.10
Leeds Bradford Airport has been warned by councillors to stop breaching planning rules over night-time flying. A late-running Pakistan International Airline flight to Islamabad caused all 32 breaches of the rules, aimed at protecting residents from being disturbed by late-night flying between 23:00 and 07:00.
The flight is scheduled to arrive at 19:25 and depart at 21:00, two hours before the airport's 23:00 cut off time. The airport says PIA is to bring the departure time of the flight forward, there will be fewer departures and the airline will use a quieter aircraft. Councillors are to write to the airport, warning them that further breaches will not be tolerated and demanding a timetable on actions promised to tackle the problem.
