Leeds Bradford Airport train link would cost £17 - £25m

A state-of-the-art rail link to Leeds Bradford Airport would be feasible at a cost of between £17m and £25m, according to a new report. Its findings are set to go before Metro's Rail Working Group tomorrow.
The report by consultants Arup outlines the feasibility of introducing tram-trains on the following routes: Leeds - Harrogate - York; Horsforth - Leeds Bradford Airport - Guiseley; Bradford Forster Square - Guiseley; Leeds - Lower Aire Valley - Five Towns; and Five Towns - Wakefield.
The findings of the research, part-funded by Leeds Bradford Airport, say that a link between the airport and the Harrogate line - which would provide a direct connection from the airport to Leeds city centre - would be feasible at an estimated cost of between £17m and £25m.
