Leeds Bradford Airport owner has £70m investment plan
13.03.08
Bridgepoint, the private equity group that paid West Yorkshire’s 5 councils £146m for Leeds Bradford Airport last year, plans to spend £70m to stimulate more use of the hub, the Financial Times reports. However the newspaper does not say how and when.
The FT quotes Sir Graham Hall, the well-known Yorkshire business leader and chairman of the company created to run the airport, saying that more than half of the flights taken each year by Yorkshire’s 6 million people start from outside the region. Apparently he sees plenty of opportunity to get more of them to stop travelling to use airports such as Manchester - which serves a much broader range of destinations.
