Ryanair will launch its 34th base at Leeds Bradford Airport in March 2010. The budget airline will base two aircraft at Leeds Bradford and launch 14 new routes, making a total of 17 routes and 63 weekly return flights from next March.
The new flights, all from £10 one way including taxes, are to Carcassonne, Faro, Ibiza, Knock, Krakow, Limoges, Malaga, Malta, Montpellier, Murcia, Nantes, Palma, Pisa and Venice. Ryanair already flies from Leeds Bradford to Alicante, Girona and Dublin. The new routes will increase its traffic at the airport to 1 million passengers a year.
Ryanair chief executive Michael O’Leary said: ‘We are delighted to announce Leeds Bradford as our 34th base, and our 11th UK base. These 14 new routes go on sale today.'
John Parkin, Leeds Bradford Airport's Chief Executive, said: ‘This is a big vote of confidence in both the airport and our region from Europe's largest airline. This announcement makes us an exception in the sector and will help create much needed jobs. It shows Ryanair shares our confidence in the tremendous opportunity for strong growth at Leeds Bradford.'
