Ryanair celebrates 2 millionth passenger on Dublin route
02.10.07
Ryanair has celebrated carrying its 2 millionth passenger on its Leeds Bradford Airport to Dublin service. As ever, it is marking the milestone with a 'special ticket deal,' offering seats on its new flights from Leeds Bradford to Shannon, to launch in November, from the cost of taxes and charges.
Caroline Baldwin, marketing manager for the airline, said: 'We're delighted to celebrate this remarkable passenger milestone at Leeds Bradford Airport. It's testament to the huge demand for low fares air travel in Yorkshire. Two million people have now flown to Ireland with Ryanair, and we expect this number to increase dramatically with the introduction of our new route to Shannon.'
The route between Leeds Bradford and Dublin was launched in 1996 when 70,000 passengers were carried. Ryanair has seen such growth that in the year ahead it expects to carry more than 300,000 passengers on the route in 2007.
The lucky 2 millionth passenger on the Dublin flight was Sandra Fitzpatrick. Bizarrely, she received a flight voucher for the Leeds Bradford - Shannon from Ryanair (remember she was flying to Dublin).
