Leeds Bradford Airport has joined forces with a local race and road car company to promote Yorkshire’s links with Le Mans and its world-famous 24 hour race. Car maker Ginetta builds its famous cars in a factory in Garforth, Leeds. The company’s boss, Lawrence Tomlinson, started competing in the Le Mans 24 Hour race in 2004, winning the GT2 class in 2006.
This year's Le Mans 24 Hour will take place on June 11 - 12, with direct access on Ryanair’s twice weekly flights from Leeds Bradford to nearby Nantes. A spokesman for the airport said: ‘We are delighted to offer an easy route to the world renowned racing event at Le Mans. Passengers can be at the track experiencing the excitement and soak in the adrenaline of the race in just under 45 minutes from Nantes Airport.’
