Bad weather causes flight delays
31.01.08
Strong winds caused delays at Leeds Bradford Airport yesterday, resulting flights being delayed up to three and a half hours. Air traffic controllers at the hub, who take wind speed measurements every 20 minutes, said that by lunchtime the gusts had reached 52 miles an hour.
The worst disruption was to early-morning flights out of the airport. Arrivals were largely unaffected, although one flight from Belfast was diverted to Durham Tees Valley, an airport spokesman said. By the afternoon the airport was catching up on delays.
